GENERAL RACE INFORMATION
The 25th Anniversary “Lakeshore’s Amazing Race” car rally will be
held May 3, 2008. This Amazing
Race will depart from the Comber Community Centre parking lot at 11am and
finish around 6pm with a wind-up BBQ and Band featuring LAST MINUTE
following the race at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Emeryville.
Rally Teams will participate by following clues to various points around
Lakeshore. At participating
stops, teams may compete in roadblock or detour challenges to earn their
next clue before moving on to the next stop in the race.
The registration includes a keepsake t-shirt.
All participants must purchase a Rally Dinner ticket for after the
event. Corporate teams are
encouraged to participate with company vehicles.
The number of entries is limited, so register early!
Each team will consist of 2-7 members, dependant on the
number of legal seatbelts present in the participating vehicle.
Team members must be at least 16 years of age.
Team members under 18 years of age must have a guardian sign their
participation in the event, and must be accompanied by a racer over 18.
One team member MUST have a valid full ‘G’ driver’s license.
One team member MUST be able to swim. You do not need to be a super
athlete to compete but please keep in mind that this is a very physically
challenging race.
Participants cannot carry cell phones during the race.
There will be no contact with friends and family allowed by the
racers unless extreme circumstances exist which will be reviewed on a case
by case basis.
The entrance fee is $35 per racer.
This includes the race and a ticket to the dinner afterwards.
Sponsors are being acquired to provide exceptional prizes
for racers. Because of this,
teams are expected to put a strong effort towards collecting pledges for the
charity. Rewards will be given
to the teams that collect the highest amount of pledges that will provide
them with a great advantage during the race.
THE CAUSE
Racers collect pledges prior to the event for Lakeshore Community Services.
The teams that bring in the most pledges are given tokens that help them
during the race. Shortcuts allow teams to skip an entire challenge, Tune-Ups
give teams a hint or head-start at a challenge and Yields allow a team to
force a following team to wait 15 minutes at the Yield sign.
Why it's cool:
·
Teams raise pledges for Lakeshore Community Services. Even if you don't live
in Lakeshore, supporting the healthy development of low-income families,
seniors, and kids is cool.
·
The first challenge for teams is raising pledges. Although we do not have a
minimum pledge requirement, teams are expected to work hard to bring in
pledges. You will be rewarded with prizes and advantages during the race. It
will pay off in more ways than one.
·
Each sponsor making a pledge will be awarded a raffle ticket in their name
for a door prize at the Amazing Race Dinner.
·
You and your partners will get to share an experience like no other and it
will be a story you'll tell for years to come.
·
The event will have race photographers to capture the highlights of the
weekend that will be available in a race photo DVD for a small fee after the
race.
·
If you think you're really smart but not strong physically or vice versa,
challenges can range from physical requirements to a math brain buster and
anything in between. Each team will excel or be stumped at different points
in the race.
·
You will compete for awesome prizes.
·
The planning team works hard to keep all details of the race a complete
secret until the race weekend. The race will be full of surprises and
excitement.
